1991 Harley Davidson Fat Boy
1991 Harley Davidson Fat Boy. Picture this: the year is 1991 and you're watching Terminator 2 for the first time. Suddenly, Arnold Schwarzenegger comes roaring onto the screen on a motorcycle that looks like it was built to conquer the apocalypse. You lean forward in your seat, your heart racing with excitement, and you think to yourself: "I want that bike."
That's the power of the Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy. This motorcycle wasn't just a mode of transportation, it was a symbol of rebellion, a statement of individuality, and a piece of Hollywood history all rolled into one. It captured the imagination of an entire generation and became an icon of American pop culture.
I bought one straight away. This was my first ever Harley Davidson and I loved it.
But the Fat Boy wasn't just a pretty face. Underneath that rugged exterior was a well-built machine that could handle whatever the road threw at it. The bike's steel frame and mechanicals were proven and under stressed, making it a reliable ride that could take you anywhere you wanted to go. And with its rear 'softail' suspension – twin shocks hidden to give the “hardtail” look - and easy maneuverability, it was comfortable enough for long rides but still agile enough to handle tight turns.
By todays modern standards – this has long been surpassed. I found the suspension is adequate as long as you stick to smooth roads. I would upgrade it if I owned this bike today. For many Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy owners, it's going to be good enough. Remember this is not a fast bike.
Of course, if you're looking for speed, the Fat Boy might not be the bike for you. This motorcycle was built for cruising, not racing, and it's not going to win any drag races. But if you're looking for a ride that's as stylish as it is dependable, then the Fat Boy is the bike for you.
The Fat Boy took the look, proportions and silhouette of a 1949 Hydra-Glide motorcycle and completely modernized it for the next generation of riders. These are the enthusiasts who appreciated the post-war design DNA but also found themselves drawn to the clean simplicity of contemporary industrial design.
So if you're in the market for a motorcycle that's both rugged and stylish, dependable and iconic, then look no further than the Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy. It's a ride that will turn heads, make a statement, and take you wherever you want to go. It’s the definitive Harley. If retro-style cruising is your thing. The Harley-Davidson FLSTF Fat Boy has it all from the 80 cubic inch Evo V-twin motor to the characteristic disc wheels and even the badge on the tank.
If you're a fan of movie memorabilia, then the auction of one of the bikes used in Terminator 2 will be of interest. One of the most famous cinematic motorcycles, the 1991 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy ridden by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The other one of the two bikes used in the movie was restored in 2014 and has been at the Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee ever since.
The bike up for sale had a few scrapes and dings, but was still in great condition, with only 630km on the odometer. It's a piece of Hollywood history that sold in 2018 fetching $480,000 US far over the expected $200-300,000.
The build quality on this bike is pretty good, I never experienced any problems over the many years I owned this bike. If you are picking up one of these look at the service history and make sure it’s been looked after.
