When it comes to Harley Davidson motorcycles there are a lot of middle aged guys coming on board – they are either totally new to motorcycles or just new to Harley’s.
The middle aged attraction to Harley’s probably happens because of the symbolism of a motorcycle – and in particular a Harley. Motorcycling symbolises, risk taking, freedom and a whole heap of other masculine traits.
Harley’s - to many people, are the pointy end of this. The more well known part of this symbolism.
So guys who have worked hard all their life, raised a family, done the “right thing” perhaps haven’t done what they wanted to do in their life - suddenly decide they want a crack at more risk, more freedom, more of what they think they have missed out on. Then they buy a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
