With so many great motorcycles brands and models around AND the price of new a Harley being seriously expensive for most people - why is Harley dominating the large motorcycle market?
We are talking cruisers NOT off-road bikes, motor scooters and small commuters. Just big bad cruisers. A cruiser is basically a luxury motorcycle that's aimed at comfort, looks and travel.

Analysts are reporting that the cruiser market is still growing and will grow right into 2030. In the US about 40% of motorcycles are cruisers – Harley’s dominate this market. In The US even in a down year like 2022 Harley sells far more (21%) to than it’s closest rival Honda at 17.5% but Honda stats ALSO include off road vehicles like ATV’s. In Australia last year the Breakout was the number one selling road bike (not including postal service Honda's)
Now – if your watching thinking I’m just a fan boy, I have owned and loved other brands! My favourite other brands are Kawasaki and Triumph.

One of the first reasons that people flock to Harley Davidson is the sound of the engine. It’s unmistakable and sexy. And yes there are some other bikes that also sound great -- but in a different way.
The Harley Davidson sound is achieved with a signature v twin configuration that has 45 degrees angle between the cylinders and a single crankshaft pin holding the 2 pistons.
The spark plugs fire at uneven intervals which gives the distinct and unmistakable pop, pop, pause sound. The sound also conveys the feel and character of the bike because the sound is the heart beat of the bike.
This engine configuration is also harder to balance and therefore we have the classic Harley vibration which varies depending on what type of engine your Harley has.
Now that the M8 engine has been released in late model Harley Davidson’s people are trying to get the Twin Cam engine sound and vibration, Twin Cam owners tried to get Evo sound and vibration and I still remember Evo owners were trying to get the classic Shovel Head sound - maybe people don't like change?
